Final Product

Image
Here are the results of the magazine that I have been working on. I'm more than happy with how it came out; I was able to create the design that I always imagined from the beginning. The pictures were closely crafted to perfection, and my writing skills were put to the test. So please take the time to look at what took months to create and I hope you enjoy it as you flip through the pages.

Finishing the Design and Writing

My magazine was almost finished, so I decided to work on finishing the pages by giving the final details that it needed. I added small details such as a background texture to give the pages more depth. I also included rectangles to create a more engaging layout. I even made a page where I would remove the background of the picture and make the players the main focus so it could stand out more. These features helped make the pages more unique which was the final touch to finishing the design of my entire magazine. However I was missing one of the important things of the magazine: the article. The reason why I left the article for last was to see how much I needed to write in order for it to fit on each page. My article focuses on giving a brief explanation of what soccer is and how it works. I then go into more depth by explaining how soccer is more than just kicking the ball around the field. It is about the passion and hunger the pla...

Editing and Designing

For my magazine, I wanted to make it long, informative, and motivational since it is about sports. I decided to make it around 5-8 pages long and decided to draw out the design. I wanted to do a different design for each page so they can capture the reader's attention. I also decided to change the title to “INTENSITY” because the previous title, “DETERMINATION,” was too long a word for the title of the magazine. I also believe “INTENSITY” would fit better with what I will write about in the pages.              I decided to choose the top 10 photos that I liked and even edited them by fixing the lighting, since some came out a bit darker than others. I used an app called Lightroom, which it is used by many people to edit professional pictures. The way I chose the pictures is by looking at which ones would capture the players being “in the zone” and going shoulder to shoulder against their opponents. The reason I chose these types of pictures is s...

Cover Magazine and Taking Pictures

After creating a cover magazine, I realized it was still missing a few details, such as the title and the main picture. I took some time brainstorming what type of title would go with my magazine, eventually I decided to call it “Determination.” The reason why I chose this title is because in order to win in a match, the player must do anything and has to stay determined no matter what. It is an important part of sports that many athletes could relate to.                However, I needed a picture that would also go with my title. I also needed the picture to be taken by me, and was not sure of how I was going to be able to do this. I decided to go to a school game that one of my friends played in and took pictures with a camera that I had. By the end of the match, I took almost a thousand pics and was able to take many good pictures, which will decide my main image. After analyzing ...

Intro

Before starting on my magazine, I researched the different styles people have used in magazines before. I would pay close attention to each and every one of the magazine layouts and how they are designed. After analyzing each one, I would choose the three that would align with my vision for my magazine. I then started creating my design by combining the different styles into one to make my title unique.                I really wanted to make a cover that grabs people's attention. I made sure to put in all the main parts of a magazine cover: headline, masthead, image, barcode, issue number, and date. I picked each part carefully so they all fit together well. I would choose things carefully so they can all bond and flow as one. The reason why I included the barcode and issue, and dateline was to make the magazine realistic and overall professional.         ...
